Why Coimbatore · Infrastructure

The city is being rebuilt around its next decade.

Metro rail planned along the enterprise corridors. An airport expanding four-fold. A ring road redrawing freight movement. Few Tier-II cities have this much infrastructure in motion at once.

Four Projects in Motion

Planned · DPR Stage

Coimbatore Metro

~44 kmPhase 1 corridors

Phase 1 plans two corridors of roughly 44 km along Avinashi and Sathyamangalam Roads, with the detailed project report prepared by Chennai Metro Rail Ltd and submitted to the union government. The planned Line-2 alignment runs through Saravanampatti — the heart of the city's IT corridor.

Why it Matters

Mass transit along the exact corridors where enterprises and talent already concentrate.

Airport Expansion

Terminal footprint growth

Coimbatore International Airport's terminal is planned to grow from approximately 18,000 to 75,000 sq m, with capacity for up to 15 million annual passengers over the coming two decades. Stronger direct links to Singapore, the Gulf, and Southeast Asia are the stated goal.

Why it Matters

Global occupiers fly in. Direct connectivity is a location-decision criterion — and it is being quadrupled.

03

In Development

Western Ring Road

32.4 kmFour-lane bypass

A 32.4 km four-lane bypass connecting the Salem–Cochin Road to NH 67, designed to move heavy and through traffic out of the city's core.

Why it Matters

It separates freight from commute — the city's industrial economy stops competing with its office economy for road space.

04

Node City · Active

Defence Industrial Corridor

NodeTN Defence Corridor

Coimbatore is a node city of the Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor, anchored by an established aerospace and precision engineering base — L&T's aerospace division, Lakshmi Machine Works, Roots, and UTC Aerospace among the district's leaders.

Why it Matters

Central and state investment flowing into exactly the engineering ecosystem the district already leads.

The Operating Base

Already in Place

Even before the next decade of build-out, the city already runs on infrastructure most Tier-II markets are still asking for.

  • Second-largest city in Tamil Nadu
  • International airport in operation today
  • NH 544 / NH 181 highway connectivity
  • Four operating SEZs — ELCOT (TIDEL Park), KGiSL & more
  • Established IT corridors — Saravanampatti and Peelamedu
  • Pollachi Road belt emerging as the next growth axis

The TANNY Line

TANNY's corridors are chosen against this map: Saravanampatti, on the planned metro alignment and inside the established IT belt; Pollachi Road, where the city's growth has room to run.

Why we chose these corridors
